tHE HORIZONS LEAN FORWARD, OFFERING yOU SPACE TO PLACE NEW STEPS OF CHANGE. mAYA aNGELOU
I am the youngest of three brothers all born and raised in the sunny state of Florida, but all very different types of personality. In May of 2014, I will be a first-generation college graduate. Upon conferral, I will have a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and a minor in Spanish from Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL. During my childhood I spent almost every summer's day at the beach. I still love the smell of salty ocean air, feeling the grains of sand sifting between my toes, listening to the waves crash against the shore and watching the sailboats drift off into the sunset. I have an out-going, optimistic, adventurous, one-of-a-kind, yet, well-balanced, personality. My entire life I have been called "different" and I agree. I am a follower of Jesus Christ, chosen and appointed by God for a purpose. I am passionate about serving and helping others reach their fullest potential. I work hard to maintain core values, but even harder to obtain future goals. Life is full of opportunities and self-awareness is the key to maximizing those opportunities. I enjoy research writing, and sharing stories. Stories are like catalysts. Take the time to listen to someone's story; it will change your life.
Values and Beliefs
I value life. I believe every human being is born with an innate life purpose. I value change. I believe change will always create opportunities that allow individuals to grow. I value diversity. I believe different perspectives are vital to personal and organizational development. I value relationships. I assume the best in others; leading by example I believe it can be reciprocated. I value the process. I believe the solution is a goal that is created, structured and reinforced by the process. I value faith. I believe faith establishes a foundation of surrender that enables God to mobilize fulfillment of the life He chose for me to lead. I value love. I believe love is an action; the very life-force that vitalizes our faith and purifies our spirit. I value trust. I believe trust is the underpinnings of all successful relationships. I value character. I believe the integrity of our character distinguishes the traits that shape our words and actions, and the integrity of my character is found in Jesus Christ alone.
Future Career Plan
I am currently developing knowledge, skills and experience in the areas of organizational leadership, cross-cultural communications, sustainable agriculture and micro-finance. My long-term goal is to lead a non-profit organization that connects resources (e.g. education, agriculture, and micro-finance loans, etc.) with developing countries. The vision of the organization is to diminish global poverty. The goal is to generate self-sustainable, economically viable communities that are capable of re-generating. I believe that over time the success from these communities will increase the overall percentages of the Human Development Index (HDI), which is comprised of an individual's life expectancy, mean years of education and total GNI per capita. Every fiber of my being strives to leave things better than the way it was first found. I plan to continue stewarding the gifts, skills, talents and abilities that God has given me through serving others.
